Down a Mysterious Rabbit Hole…

Today I found myself reading a blog site I hadn’t seen in a while, “The Mystery Lovers Kitchen" (MLK). It's a great site profiling a number of Mystery Authors with links to their work and also lots of recipes. The recipe that got my attention was...

Apple Fritter Loaf Bread from Author V.M. Burns

To post a comment on the article there was a requirement to log in or validate for identity so I decided to log in and ended up creating a new blog for myself. To my surprise the service took me to the Blogger platform, which also hosts the "Mystery Lover's Kitchen", where I had created the new blog, the one you're reading now.

But the real surprise was that Google, which provides the Blogger platform, found a number of really old blogs that I had created back in the 2000's. Talk about a blast from the past! Below are links to those blogs if you care to read them. Ned's Casebook was one I started back when I was editing, or more like trying to be an Editor, on an online webzine called "Nefarious - Tales of Mystery".

My Older Blogs

- Betwixt Earth And Sky

- 20,000 Linkes Under The Sea

- Into The Night - Ned's Casebook

In recent years I find myself reading fewer paper books, or even ebooks. But when I happen across a website like MLK I'm reminded of all the things I love about the Mystery genre, and in particular the Cozy Mystery genre.

A mystery in this vein can be counted on to have a group of friends, and enemies, that do things together and usually get into trouble. I love the emphasis on day to day experiences and habits that make life enjoyable. Descriptions of small town life or the bustle of the big city. Having a good storyteller take you along on a mysterious tale with surprises along the way at the slow pace of reading a good book 📚 is hard to beat.

In today’s world of constant bombardment of noise, visuals, news, and people it’s great to just sit back in a quiet place with a preferred drink and some comfort food and just spend time reading a book.
